Recognizing Dyslexia

ree

In this article, I want to give you some information where you can accurately assess the presence of learning difficulties related to dyslexia in adults. If you think that someone or yourself may have dyslexia, learning about dyslexia can help you recognize the developmental difficulties and help you implement appropriate intervention program for each cognitive issue.

I will be focusing on the the risk indicators in adults. There are adults who struggle with reading and writing difficulties throughout their lives, but they do not realize that they have this disorder. If their mental ability is good, people may consider themselves just lazy or uncaring. Untimely detection and the lack of the necessary tools make daily work difficult and problems may occur in the practical or academic field, social relations and the emotional field.

Dyslexia in adults are characterized by the following symptoms: Writing difficulties People with dyslexia have difficulties processing reading symbols. Difficulty spelling words and expressing ideas. They may understand what people say, but they find it hard to write. The writing of adults with dyslexia can be disorganized, confusing, and they can confuse similar sounding words.

Reading difficulties Adults with dyslexia read slowly, have difficulty understanding what they read, and have difficulties retaining information. They have problems with reading comprehension and recalling information that they just read. Some people feel like they reread the same section over and over again.

Difficulties planning tasks One of the hallmarks of dyslexia is executive development difficulties. Any task that requires planning can be challenging. Executive functions are the set of cognitive skills that allow planning and dividing tasks (analyzing the task, Prioritizing the tasks, understanding what is needed to be done, organizing the required time, organizing the work, setting goals, evaluating actions and fixing them according to the results, etc...) Problems with motor coordination and spatial orientation Some people with dyslexia have difficulties with motor coordination and have difficulty distinguishing between right and left, inside and outside, etc... This problem is related to everyday mistakes. They have difficulties playing sports that require coordination, such as cycling or team games, such as soccer. Difficulties in the social-work environment Difficulties and needs for support with writing and reading begin during childhood and continue with academic challenges and workplace demands. There is a relationship between academic failure and dyslexia, because this difficulty persists in the practical realm of adults with dyslexia. I am here to help you manage all these obstacles, so do not hesitate to contact me and work with me to make the impossible a reality.
